Green Monkey is releasing a digital single of Tom Dyer’s New Pagan Gods doing their very best interpretation of two Hendrix numbers from Axis Bold As Love – “Spanish Castle Magic” and “Little Wing.” The download single will be released with respect on September 18, the anniversary of Mr. Hendrix’s death, available on the Green Monkey website as well as the usual digital outlets like iTunes and Amazon. It will also be available for streaming on Spotify and other poor paying services. A printed promotional copy will be distributed to select members of the media. A video for “Little Wing” is currently in progress.

The single was originally recorded as part of the History of NW Rock project and were slated for inclusion on that album. At that time, we were unable to obtain a license to release them and the songs were scrapped. We now have said license and we now have liftoff. While it is worth stating these versions are in no way superior to the originals, there is a purity in both intent and execution that is worthy, particularly in the beautiful lead guitar playing of Mr. Scott Sutherland.
